Students standing for their teachers when they enter the classrooms
Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Fatwa number ( 2378 ):
Q: It is narrated that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) came out one day to a group of his Companions while leaning on a stick, so they stood up for him, and he said to them:Sunan Abi Dawud 5230. (a) What is the ruling in Islam regarding students standing up for their teachers when they enter the classrooms, is it permissible or not? (b) Is it prohibited for people to stand up for one another in gatherings during greetings and handshakes?
A: The best of guidance is the guidance of Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him), and the worst of matters are those that are newly invented, and the best of generations is the generation in which the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) was, followed by the generations of excellence after him, as is established from him (peace and blessings be upon him). His way (peace and blessings be upon him) with his Companions in this regard was that when he came to them, they would not stand up for him, because they knew his dislike of that. Therefore, it is not befitting for this teacher to order his students to stand up for him, and it is not befitting for them to comply
if he orders them, for there is no obedience to a created being in disobedience to the Creator. And success is from Allah. And may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.

Do not stand up as foreigners do for showing respect to one another.
