Slaughter of animals at the shrines of the awliya (close friends of Allah)

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The second and third questions from Fatwa No. ( 6208 ):
Q2: There are shrines of the awliya (close friends of Allah) where, every year on Ashura, more than 40 sheep and approximately more than 10 cows are slaughtered. Some ignorant Muslims gather there, reciting the Qur'an in the name of supplication for the dead, and then they eat these slaughtered animals. We ask you, Your Eminence, to issue a ruling on this problem with evidence.
A2: First: What you mentioned regarding the slaughter of animals at the shrines of the awliya (close friends of Allah) is shirk (associating partners with Allah), and its doer is accursed; because he slaughtered for other than Allah. It is established from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) that he said:
Allah cursed him who sacrificed for anyone besides Allahلعن الله من ذبح لغير الله
Sahih Muslim 1978b
, and on this basis, it is not permissible to eat from the sheep and cows that were slaughtered at the graves of the awliya (close friends of Allah). Second: Reciting the Qur'an for the dead is a bid'ah (religious innovation) that was newly introduced, and it is established that
the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
'A'isha reported Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) as saying: He who innovates things in our affairs for which there is no valid (reason) (commits sin) and these are to be rejected.من أحدث في أمرنا هذا ما ليس منه فهو ردّ
Sahih Muslim 1718a
It is agreed upon as authentic.
