The claim that 'Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) averts calamities from others after his death

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Q5: Does 'Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) help anyone during calamities?
Vol. 5: 'Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) was killed, and he did not know of his killer's plot, nor was he able to defend himself. How, then, can he be called upon to ward off calamities from others after his death, when he was unable to ward them off from himself during his life? Whoever believes that he or any other of the dead brings benefit or helps in it, or removes a hardship, is one who associates partners with Allah; for that is the exclusive right of Allah (Glorified and Exalted is He). So whoever directs it to another, whether by belief in him or by seeking his aid, has taken him as a god. Allah the Exalted said:
And if Allah should touch you with adversity, there is no remover of it except Him; and if He intends for you good, then there is no repeller of His bounty. He causes it to reach whom He wills of His servants. And He is the Forgiving, the Mercifulوَإِنْ يَمْسَسْكَ اللَّهُ بِضُرٍّ فَلا كَاشِفَ لَهُ إِلا هُوَ وَإِنْ يُرِدْكَ بِخَيْرٍ فَلا رَادَّ لِفَضْلِهِ يُصِيبُ بِهِ مَنْ يَشَاءُ مِنْ عِبَادِهِ وَهُوَ الْغَفُورُ الرَّحِيمُ
