Vows for other than Allah
Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The third question of Fatwa No. ( 3863 ):
Q3: What is the ruling on making a vow to other than Allah?
A3: Making a vow to other than Allah is shirk (associating partners with Allah); because it entails honoring the one to whom the vow is made and drawing near to Him through it, and because fulfilling it constitutes worship if the vow is for obedience, and worship must be for Allah alone, as evidenced by many proofs, among which is His saying, the Exalted:[Al-Anbya 21:25] , so directing it to other than Allah is shirk. And success is from Allah. May Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
