The third question of Fatwa No. ( 4998 ):
Q3: Some people in al-Masjid al-Nabawi , when they want to memorize the Noble Qur'an, write different verses of the Qur'an on a piece of paper and then place it in water and drink it. According to them, this helps them memorize it with ease and simplicity. We do not know whether this is a religious innovation or what the ruling of Islam is regarding it?
A3: This is a religious innovation and has no basis from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) or from his Companions (may Allah be pleased with them) as far as we know. And success is from Allah. And may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
