Question:
A letter reached the program from one of the listeners in Kuwait, which ended with the initials (N. M). In one of his questions, he says:
I read in the book of Prophetic Medicine that when a person wants to remove depression from himself, he writes some verses, puts them in water, and drinks from it. Is this beneficial? If it is beneficial, please tell us—may Allah reward you with good—how we should write it? And which verses should we write?
Answer:
There is no harm in a person writing in a clean vessel, or on clean paper, writing some verses, such as the Verse of the Throne, Surat al-Fatihah, and [Surat al-Ikhlas:1] and the two chapters of protection, and whatever is easy from the Qur'an. Then he writes them with saffron, then washes it, and drinks that; there is nothing wrong with it. Or he recites into the water, then drinks that; there is no harm in that.
It is established that he (peace and blessings be upon him) recited into water for Thabit ibn Qays ibn Shammās. The scholars, such as Ibn al-Qayyim and others, have stated that there is no harm in writing in a clean vessel, or on clean papers, writing with saffron, then squeezing it and drinking it; there is no harm in that—if Allah wills—yes.
The presenter: May Allah reward you with good.
