Writing verses from the Qur'an or other narrated supplications and hanging them on the sick person

The third question of Fatwa No. ( 1545 ):
Q3: What is the ruling on those who write the clear verses of Allah and order the sick person to hang them on his head or any part of his body, and tell him: this is the cause of healing, and they take something from him, and some of them do not take anything?
A3: The correct view is that writing verses from the Qur'an or other narrated supplications and hanging them on the sick person in hope of healing is prohibited; for three reasons: First: the generality of the hadiths prohibiting the hanging of amulets, and there is no specification for them. Second: blocking the means to harm, for hanging what is written from the verses of the Qur'an leads to hanging what is not so. Third: that what is hung of that becomes subject to desecration by carrying it in places of relieving oneself and cleaning oneself after relieving oneself, and the like. And if that is prohibited, then taking a fee for writing it to be hung on the sick person in hope of healing is also prohibited. And success is from Allah. And may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
