Question 11
From Fatwa No. ( 8844 ):
Q11: An Arab Muslim doctor is visited by many people for treatment. When he meets some of them, he says: "Know that the Healer is Allah, and I am merely a means." He prescribes some permissible treatments and some papers that are dissolved in water or milk. However, I objected to him regarding one matter: he prescribed for a man a paper to be placed inside the skin of a donkey and hung up to prevent the disease of the mother of young children. What is your opinion on this matter? Note that it is hung only for the duration of the pregnancy and then removed.
A11: First: It is not permissible to go to this man you mentioned, because he is a sorcerer. Second: It is not permissible to obey him in what he mentioned regarding his prescription for a man to take a paper and place it inside the skin of a donkey or otherwise, and describe it as preventing the disease of the mother of young children. There is no difference between a long duration and a short one, because this is shirk (associating partners with Allah), as it makes the mere placement of the paper inside the donkey's skin a preventer of the aforementioned disease. It is Allah (Mighty and Majestic) who removes the disease. This is of the same kind as hanging amulets and the like, about which the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: , and he also said (peace and blessings be upon him):
. And success is from Allah. May Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.

Whoever hangs up an amulet has committed shirk.
من تعلق تميمة فقد أشركWhoever hangs an amulet, Allah will not complete [his good], and whoever hangs a charm, Allah will not grant him [protection]
من تعلق تميمة فلا أتم الله عليه، ومن تعلق ودعة فلا ودع الله له
