The Sufi Orders and Acts of Sorcery

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The first question of Fatwa No. ( 10683 ):
Q1: In our time, the followers of the Sufi orders have become numerous, and they perform questionable acts, such as stabbing themselves with skewers, eating glass, and stabbing themselves with daggers. What is the ruling of the Shari'ah regarding these acts, given that they claim to be close friends of Allah and describe these acts as miracles?
A1: These acts are sorcery or magic and a deception of the people. They are forbidden. It is obligatory for the authorities, including scholars and rulers, to denounce them and put an end to them. These strange phenomena are not among the miracles that Allah the Exalted manifests through the hands of His believing close friends as an honor for them, nor are they a sign of the righteousness of the one through whom they appear. This is because the close friends of Allah are the people of faith and piety, known for their obedience to Allah and His Messenger, as Allah the Glorious said:
(62) Unquestionably, [for] the allies of Allah there will be no fear concerning them, nor will they grieve (63) Those who believed and were fearing Allahأَلا إِنَّ أَوْلِيَاءَ اللَّهِ لاَ خَوْفٌ عَلَيْهِمْ وَلاَ هُمْ يَحْزَنُونَ (62) الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا وَكَانُوا يَتَّقُونَ
[Yunus 10:62-63]

And success is from Allah. May Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
