The Shaykh : The following narration or hadith has a sound chain of transmission. It is narrated from Salih ibn Hayy, who said: He said to a man: A man said to 'Amir al-Sha'bi: O Abu 'Amr, we are told among us that if a man frees the mother of his child and then marries her, it is as if he were riding his own camel. So 'Amir said: Abu Burdah narrated to me from his father . Or Burdah is a Tabi'i, the son of Abu Musa al-Ash'ari. So his statement here: from his father; means Abu Musa al-Ash'ari. He said: That is, Abu Musa. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said to them: Al-Adab Al-Mufrad 203. That is, he also has two rewards. Sahih al-Bukhari 97.
We return to explaining the hadith: First: the phrase "O Abu 'Amr" is the kunya of 'Amir al-Sha'bi, who is a famous Tabi'i. The man said to him: We are told among us. The questioner, as in some narrations, is from Khurasan. So his phrase "among us" means in Khurasan, where they are discussing it. And those lands were among the places where Muslims would garrison and raid from toward the eastern lands, such as India and China, and what surrounds those lands there. The questioner says: We are told among us that if a man frees the mother of his child and then marries her, it is as if he were riding his own camel. "The mother of his child" is a term and euphemism for a free man's slave woman if he was enjoying her, and then he was blessed with a child from her, so she is the mother of his child. So "the mother of his child," in terms of the original word, is said for every wife and husband; so every husband who has a wife and has a child or more from her, she is the mother of his child. But it is agreed upon in this term, "the mother of the child," that it is specific to slave women or female slaves. So when this question is raised, the questioner says: If a man frees the mother of his child and then marries her, it is as if he were riding his own camel. As comes in the same hadith, it is recommended in Islam that if a slave woman comes to a man, either by the way of war, as we explained that in a previous lesson, meaning by the division of the spoils by the army commander, and a woman came out for the man, she is his slave woman and his concubine, whether by this way or by the way of lawful purchase. So when a man takes a slave woman from among the slave women, she becomes lawful for him as if he had married her by the Book and the Sunnah, but here there is no contract; merely that she becomes his slave woman, not drinking with your left hand, merely that she becomes his slave woman by one of the two ways mentioned, she becomes lawful for him, this slave woman. But when is she called the mother of a child? When he is blessed with a child from her, she becomes the mother of a child.
Three have a double reward: one of the People of the Book who believes in his Prophet and then believes in Muhammad has two rewards. When a slave carries out the due of Allah and the due of his master,
3. A master of a woman-slave who teaches her good manners and educates her in the best possible way (the religion) and manumits her and then marries her.
We return to explaining the hadith: First: the phrase "O Abu 'Amr" is the kunya of 'Amir al-Sha'bi, who is a famous Tabi'i.
