Explanation of the Chapter: "The Chapter of the Two Who Cursed Each Other: What They Said Is Upon the First"

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : Then, here we have a new hadith or chapter. The author (may Allah have mercy on him) said: "The Chapter of the Two Who Cursed Each Other: What They Said Is Upon the First"
"The two who cursed each other: what they said is upon the first." What is the meaning of this chapter? It is a portion of a hadith mentioned below it, concerning two people who quarreled with each other. One would curse the other, and the other would return the curse, and so on, until Satan would enter between them. So, the sin of the cursing and insults that both of them uttered is upon whom? It is upon the first one, the one who started it. Why? Because he is the one who opened the path of cursing. If the first one had not cursed the second, the second would not have returned the curse to the first.
From this, we take the danger of a person starting with evil, because he writes down his own sin and the sin of whoever acts according to his action. Therefore, it came in the authentic hadith that every killing that occurs in the world until the Day of Resurrection, the sin of all these killings is written upon the first son of Adam who killed his brother unjustly and oppressively. Why? The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
because he was the first one to kill لأنه أول من سن القتل
Sunan Ibn Majah 2616Sahih (Darussalam)
This is a rule. And therefore, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, drawing attention to this rule and to the opposite rule which is good: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
Whoever establishes a good practice in Islam, he has its reward and the reward of whoever acts according to it until the Day of Resurrection, without anything being deducted from their rewards. And whoever establishes a bad practice in Islam, he bears its sin and the sin of whoever acts according to it until the Day of Resurrection, without anything being deducted from their sins.
Based on this rule, and whoever innovates a bad practice in Islam, he bears its sin.
