How do we reconcile the saying of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him): “There is no prayer twice in one day,” with the action of Mu'adh, who used to pray twice?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner : How do we reconcile the hadiths regarding a man praying, meaning: repeating the prayer, praying twice, such as the hadith of Mu'adh and the hadith of Yazid ibn al-Aswad when he prayed Fajr in the Musjid al-Khaif with the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), and the other hadith from Ibn 'Umar where the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
Do not say a prayer twice in a day. لا تُصلوا صلاة في يوم مرتين
Sunan Abi Dawud 579Hasan Sahih (Al-Albani)
?

The Shaykh : The answer has already been given. What was it?

The questioner: No.

The Shaykh : We said: There is no prayer twice in one day with the intention of the obligatory prayer. As for the second prayer, it is with the intention of a voluntary prayer, whether in the hadith of al-Aswad or in the hadith of, for example, Mu'adh ibn Jabal when he was leading the people in prayer as imam. So the second one is voluntary, as he (peace be upon him) also said:
You will have rulers who delay the prayer from its time. If you catch them, pray the prayer in its time, then pray it with them, and it will be a voluntary prayer for you سيليكم أمراء يؤخِّرون الصلاة عن وقتها ، فإذا أدركتموهم فصلُّوا أنتم الصلاة في وقتها ، ثم صلُّوها معهم تكون لكم نافلة
. So there is no prayer twice in one day with the intention of the obligatory prayer, obligatory... obligatory. This is what the Messenger (peace be upon him) denied. So there is no contradiction between this and those hadiths. Is the answer clear?

The questioner: Yes.

The Shaykh : Anyone else?
