Much has been said about wearing the ihram in the form of a waistband

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner : He said: "O honorable Shaykh! Much has been said about wearing the ihram in the form of a waistband. Is it not tailored to fit the body? The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) forbade wearing trousers and shirts. So this would be of the same kind as trousers. I ask for clarification, to the point that some of the common people said: 'Every time you come up with something new'?"

The Shaykh : Praise be to Allah. If we come up with something new and it is permissible, that is a grace from Allah. We see that the izar is an izar, whether it is wrapped around the body without sewing or thread, or tied with a belt or the like, or tied with a button, because it is still called an izar. As for the trousers, there is a difference between them and the izar. The trousers are tailored to fit each limb separately: the right leg alone and the left leg alone. So it is not correct to analogize them to the izar. Furthermore, the generality of the saying of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him):
he who does not find lower garment من لم يجد إزاراً
Sahih Muslim 1179
includes the sewn izar and the unsewn izar. Yes.
