Mention of his saying (peace and blessings be upon him): “In the human body there are three hundred and sixty joints”

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : Among the specific blessings is what he referred to, pardon me, from the general blessings in which all people share, which the Messenger (may Allah’s prayers and peace be upon him) referred to in the authentic hadith when he said (peace and blessings be upon him):
In the human being there are three hundred and sixty joints
,
In the human being there are three hundred and sixty joints
. A joint is a joint in any part of the body: the fingers, the hand with the forearm, the forearm with the upper arm, the upper arm with the shoulder, and the neck and the joints in it that medicine does not know today despite the progress it has made. The Messenger (peace be upon him) said:
In the human being there are three hundred and sixty joints
a joint,
And for every joint every day a charity
. The point here is:
For every joint every day a charity
, meaning: thanks to Allah (Mighty and Majestic) that He did not create this human being as a single piece like this pole. If that had been the case, he would not have lived, nor would he have been a sound human being. So Allah (Mighty and Majestic) created him in the best form, as He said in the Noble Qur’an, He said:
And for every joint every day a charity
. They said: O Messenger of Allah, and who is able to do that? He said (peace and blessings be upon him):
In every tasbih (glorification) there is a charity, in every tahmid (praise) there is a charity, in every takbir (exaltation) there is a charity, enjoining good is a charity, forbidding evil is a charity, and removing a harmful object from the path is a charity.
. And thus he (peace and blessings be upon him) enumerated many of the characteristics and the noble, honorable morals, then he said (peace and blessings be upon him) in conclusion:
And two rak'ahs of Duha gather all of that for you.
As-Sunan al-Kubra lil-Nasa'i 63:128
.
And two rak'ahs of Duha gather all of that for you.
As-Sunan al-Kubra lil-Nasa'i 63:128
Meaning: In this hadith, from one angle, the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) draws our attention to the fact that these blessings, of which these joints are only a part—leave aside the other blessings—these joints are shared by all creatures, humans and others, but the human is the one obligated. The Messenger (peace be upon him) drew our attention to the fact that these blessings in these joints require that we thank Allah (Mighty and Majestic) for them, and that is by every Muslim giving charity for every joint every day, giving three hundred and sixty charities every day. This astonished the Companions, and indeed it is a tremendous thing. Who is able to give three hundred and sixty charities every day? So from another angle, the Messenger (may Allah’s prayers and peace be upon him) made the path easy for them by two means; one is detailed, and the other is very brief and concise.
The first: and this is what every Muslim should care about; and that is to accustom himself to the characteristics of good, and to doing good; to glorification and magnification of Allah, helping the Muslim brother, enjoining good and forbidding evil, and the like of what is detailed in this book specifically. So acting upon these religious obligations, if that is the habit and constant practice of the person, he will fulfill—if Allah wills—the duty of thanking Allah (Mighty and Majestic) for these joints; meaning: he will fulfill three hundred and sixty charities every day. But not everyone is able to realize this matter in the detail mentioned; and therefore the noble Messenger (may Allah’s prayers and peace be upon him) drew the attention of the general people, who may excuse themselves by saying they are unable to perform the detailed duty of gratitude; he said:
And two rak’ahs of the Duha prayer suffice for that
Sunan al-Bayhaqi 17:1109
; is there among you anyone unable to pray the two rak’ahs of the Duha prayer every day? There is no one unable, even if he prays sitting; because voluntary prayer, as you know, is permissible to perform by the able person sitting, but its reward is half of the reward of the standing prayer; so it is necessary that we strive to train ourselves, above all, in obedience to Allah (Mighty and Majestic) in what He has prescribed for us, not only in the obligatory matters, but also in the recommended, encouraged matters like glorification and magnification of Allah and the like. If that is not feasible for every person, then before him is to pray the two rak’ahs of the Duha prayer, and that suffices him, or it is as if he had performed three hundred and sixty charities. But where is the thanks for the other blessings?
These details and this brevity with the two rak’ahs of the Duha prayer is charity for these joints only, but food and drink and cold water and clothing and shelter and the like of what, as He (the Exalted) said—and there is no speech after the speech of Allah:
And if you should count the favor of Allah, you could not enumerate them
[Ibrahim 14:34]
; how can we perform the thanks for these blessings? That is by always exaggerating in obedience to Allah (Mighty and Majestic), in all types of obedience that we are able to, and each according to his ability.
This is approximately the intended meaning of the address of Allah (Mighty and Majestic) to His servants on the Day of Resurrection:
Did I not make your body healthy? Did I not quench your thirst with cold water? !
; meaning: Yes, I did that, O my Lord; so did you, my servant, perform my thanks for that?! Here, who is able to say: Yes, and who is silent and unable to lie with Allah (Mighty and Majestic); because He knows the secret and what is more hidden.
I return to this hadith again, perhaps some of you memorize it well, he said (peace and blessings be upon him):
The first thing for which a servant will be held accountable on the Day of Resurrection is that he will be asked: Did I not make your body healthy and quench your thirst with cold water? !
Al-Mustadrak lil-Hakim 32:4
. It was narrated by Ibn Hibban in his “Sahih,” and al-Hakim, and he said: The chain is authentic.
The hadith after it is from the very weak hadiths, and therefore we avoid it. And I only say this in case there is someone who has a copy of “al-Targhib” that indicates there that this hadith is very weak.
