The Exemption from Charity for One Who Broke the Fast in Ramadan Due to Illness

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Your Eminence! I have a daughter who fell ill last Ramadan, and the illness confined her to her bed. After she recovered, she fasted. Is she required to give charity or not?
She is not required to give charity;because of the saying of Allah the Exalted:
So whoever among you is ill or on a journey [during them] - then an equal number of days [are to be made up]فَمَنْ كَانَ مِنْكُمْ مَرِيضاً أَوْ عَلَى سَفَرٍ فَعِدَّةٌ مِنْ أَيَّامٍ أُخَرَ
[al-Baqarah: 184] and Allah did not mention charity, so she is not required to fast.

The questioner: If she is afflicted with a heart condition that prevents her from performing Hajj, am I permitted to perform Hajj on her behalf or not?The Shaykh: Is it an obligation? The questioner: Yes.

The Shaykh: Then: it is valid.

The questioner: I have a Hajj obligation! Do you know anyone who would take it on?The Shaykh: By Allah, I do not know anyone right now; but let it pass by me later, if Allah wills, and if you find someone, give it to him.

The questioner: And is it valid for me to perform Hajj on her behalf if she becomes unable to do so?The Shaykh: Yes.
