The ruling on following a latecomer when he stands to complete his prayer

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Is it permissible for another person to follow the one who is making up what he missed in the prayer?

Meaning: The latecomer who entered with the imam during the prayer and then stands to make up what he missed: does anyone who entered with him follow him? The scholars have differed on this issue. So some of them said: This is not correct, and it is not valid for anyone to follow him.And some of them said: It is valid, but it is contrary to what is preferred. This is the closest view: it is valid, but it is contrary to what is preferred, and it is closer to religious innovation than to the Sunnah. This is because the Companions (may Allah be pleased with them) did not do this. When a man missed part of the prayer, he would stand and make it up alone. Furthermore, this leads to a chain reaction: one who entered with the one making up his missed prayer would pray with him, and perhaps something would be missed by this latecomer, which he would then make up. Then a third and fourth person would come, and in this situation, it becomes very clear that it is a religious innovation.
