Exegesis of His saying, the Exalted: (O mankind, indeed you are laboring toward your Lord with intense effort, and you will meet Him)
Then He, the Exalted, said: [Al-Inshiqaq: 6] (The one who labors) is the one who strives with effort and a degree of hardship,And his statement: (toward your Lord) means: you are laboring with an effort that leads you to your Lord,Attention! Effort that leads to Allah means: that the end of your labor, no matter who you are, ends with Allah; because we will die, and when we die, we return to Allah the Exalted, so whatever you do, the end is with Allah the Exalted [Al-Najm: 42] ,And for this he said: [Al-Inshiqaq: 6] even the sinner is laboring, his goal is Allah the Exalted,Allah the Exalted said: [Al-Ghashiyah: 25-26] but the difference between the obedient and the sinner is: the obedient does a deed that pleases Allah, through which he reaches the pleasure of Allah on the Day of Resurrection, and the sinner does a deed that angers Allah; but despite that, where does it end? With Allah the Exalted.
So His saying, the Exalted: (O mankind) encompasses every human being, believer or disbeliever.
[Al-Inshiqaq: 6] The grammarians say: the fā' indicates sequence and immediate succession,Meaning: so you will meet Him in nearness, [Al-An'am: 134] and every one who comes is near [Ash-Shura: 17] .
And if you wish it to be clear to you that meeting the Lord the Exalted is near; look at what has passed of your life now, if a hundred years have passed for you; it is as if these hundred years were one hour, all that has passed of it is as if it were one hour, so it is near.
And when a person dies, do you think that the barzakh (the interval between death and resurrection) between this worldly life and the Hereafter is long? It is near like a moment, so when a person sleeps a peaceful sleep, let us say for twenty-four hours and wakes up, how much does he estimate the sleep to be? One minute, even though he may have slept for twenty-four hours, so if the separation of the soul in life passes time with this speed; what do you think when the soul, after leaving the body, is occupied either with bliss or torment? Millions of years will pass for the person as if they were nothing; because the extension of time in our state of wakefulness is not like the extension of time in our state of sleep, so the person who is awake from the rising of the sun to its zenith feels that the time is long, but if he were sleeping, he would not feel that length.
Have you not seen the one whom Allah caused to die for a hundred years, then He resurrected him? [Al-Baqarah: 259] .
And the people of the cave remained in their cave for three hundred years and nine, so when they were resurrected, some of them said to others, how long did you remain? They said: We remained a day or part of a day, and this indicates that there is no wonder that millions of years pass for these dead people as if it were one minute; because the state of a person after his soul leaves his body, whether the separation is total or partial, is not his state when the soul is in the body; because he suffers from hardship, problems, and worries, and whispers, things that lengthen time for him, but in sleep, time contracts greatly, and in death, it contracts even more and more, so these who died and have millions of years, or thousands of years; it is as if they did not die until today, and if they were resurrected and asked how long did you remain? They would have said: We remained a day or part of a day.
And this is a matter in which a person may have a question, but there is no question in the subject, no matter how long the period for the people of the graves, it is short,And for this he said: (and you will meet Him) so He brought the fā' indicating sequence and immediate succession, and how quickly you will meet Allah the Exalted! Then Allah the Exalted divided people into two groups: some of them take their book in their right hand, and we ask Allah the Exalted to make us and you among them, and some of them take their book behind their back.
Then He, the Exalted, said:
O mankind, indeed you are laboring toward your Lord with [great] exertion and will meet it.
And that to your Lord is the end
Laboring toward your Lord with intense effort
(25) Indeed, to Us is their return. (26) Then indeed, upon Us is their account.
So His saying, the Exalted: (O mankind) encompasses every human being, believer or disbeliever.
indeed you are laboring toward your Lord with [great] exertion and will meet it.
Indeed, what you are promised is coming
And what will make you perceive? Perhaps the Hour is near.
And if you wish it to be clear to you that meeting the Lord the Exalted is near; look at what has passed of your life now, if a hundred years have passed for you; it is as if these hundred years were one hour, all that has passed of it is as if it were one hour, so it is near.

He said, "How long have you remained?" The man said, "I have remained a day or part of a day."
