A person being struck by the evil eye and the treatment for it
Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Your Eminence! Can a person be struck in his religion and deviate because of the evil eye, and does he sin for that? And what is the treatment?
A person may be struck by the evil eye in everything and in every blessing;because of the saying of Allah the Exalted: [al-Falaq:5] and in the common proverbs that are widespread: "Every one who has a blessing is envied". A religious person may be struck by the evil eye, and his chest may become tight regarding worship, or he may be struck by the evil eye and forget what he had memorized, or he may be struck by the evil eye and be unable to memorize. So the evil eye—may Allah grant us safety—The Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) said in it: (If the divine decree had preceded anything, the evil eye would have preceded it). The remedy for that is to look for the one who cast the evil eye to do what the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) ordered, so that the evil eye is removed. If that is not possible, then by much recitation and seeking forgiveness,And much saying: (There is no deity but You, Glory to You, indeed I was among the wrongdoers). For Allah the Exalted said: [al-Anbiya:88]. And this phrase, whoever says it sincerely in a state of distress, Allah the Exalted removes the affliction from him; because Allah said, and He is the most truthful of speakers and the most capable of doers: [al-Anbiya:88]. So he should repent, seek forgiveness, and increase in seeking forgiveness, repentance, remembrance, and recitation,And saying: There is no deity but You, Glory to You, indeed I was among the wrongdoers,And saying: O Allah, I place You in their throats, and I seek refuge in You from their evils, and the like of that from the formulas of seeking refuge.
The questioner: Does he deviate from his religion because of the evil eye?The Shaykh: As for the issue of deviation, I do not know; but that his chest becomes tight regarding the worship for which he was envied, that is possible.
The questioner: Does he sin for that? The Shaykh: Allah said: [al-Baqarah:286]. But committing forbidden acts, he sins for them.
A person may be struck by the evil eye in everything and in every blessing;because of the saying of Allah the Exalted:
And from the evil of an envier when he envies."
وَمِنْ شَرِّ حَاسِدٍ إِذَا حَسَدَSo We responded to him and saved him from the distress. And thus do We save the believers.
فَاسْتَجَبْنَا لَهُ وَنَجَّيْنَاهُ مِنَ الْغَمِّ وَكَذَلِكَ نُنْجِي الْمُؤْمِنِينَAnd thus We save the believers.
وَكَذَلِكَ نُنْجِي الْمُؤْمِنِينَThe questioner: Does he deviate from his religion because of the evil eye?The Shaykh: As for the issue of deviation, I do not know; but that his chest becomes tight regarding the worship for which he was envied, that is possible.
