Exegesis of the saying of Allah the Exalted: (And indeed, there came to them of the news that which contains a deterrent)]
We begin this session with what we have been accustomed to, which is discussing the noble verses. In the previous session, we ended with the saying of Allah, Blessed and Exalted is He:
(4) And there has already come to them of information that in which there is deterrence - (5) Extensive wisdom - but warning does not avail [them].وَلَقَدْ جَاءَهُمْ مِنَ الْأَنْبَاءِ مَا فِيهِ مُزْدَجَرٌ * حِكْمَةٌ بَالِغَةٌ فَمَا تُغْنِ النُّذُرُ
[al-Qamar: 4-5]

Allah the Exalted emphasized in this sentence: (And indeed, there came to them of the news) meaning that they, namely the Quraysh, (received of the news) meaning the reports that contained their guidance, their well-being, and their success. (That which contains a deterrent) meaning a deterrent from shirk (associating partners with Allah) and disobedience. But they did not benefit from it. As you hear, this sentence contains the letter lam and the word qad, and both are tools of emphasis. And in it is an implied oath indicated by the letter lam in His saying: (And indeed, there came to them) Therefore, this sentence is emphasized by three tools of emphasis: the oath, the letter lam, and the word qad. Allah, Glorified and Exalted is He, is truthful without emphasizing His report, but this Qur'an is in a clear Arabic language, and the eloquence of the Arabic language is such that it emphasizes important matters so that they are established and firmly rooted in the mind.
