The Rank of Hajj in Islam and Some of Its Rulings

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Praise be to Allah, Lord of the worlds, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, and upon his family and all his Companions.

To proceed: This is the ninety-seventh session of the Open Door series, which takes place every Thursday, and this Thursday is the second of Dhul-Qa'dah in the year 1419 AH.
Since the time of Hajj is approaching, I see that we should dedicate these three sessions to Hajj and what is related to it; because the rulings of Hajj are obscure to many people, even to students of knowledge. Some of them exaggerate in it, some of them are lenient, and some are moderate.
In this session, we will speak about the rank of Hajj in Islam, its obligation, and the conditions of its obligation.

So as for the first, we say: The rank of Hajj in Islam is that it is one of the pillars of Islam. Allah the Exalted made it obligatory upon His servants in His Book, and the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) clarified its status in the religion,So Allah the Exalted said:
And [due] to Allah from the people is a pilgrimage to the House - for whoever is able to find thereto a way. But whoever disbelieves - then indeed, Allah is free from need of the worlds.
[Al-Imran: 97] And the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Islam is built on five: testifying that there is no god but Allah and that Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah, establishing the prayer, giving zakah, fasting Ramadan, and performing Hajj to the Sacred House" And among them are people who worship stones, people who worship trees, and people who worship dates, until they mentioned that in the pre-Islamic age of ignorance they used to make a thick -Meaning: ugly - figure from dates in the shape of an idol, then they would worship it, and when they were hungry they would eat it. Glory be to Allah! An object of worship that is eaten. Woe to this object of worship.
So, are these gods truth or falsehood? Falsehood;because of the saying of Allah the Exalted:
That is because Allah is the Truth, and that which they call upon other than Him is falsehoodذَلِكَ بِأَنَّ اللَّهَ هُوَ الْحَقُّ وَأَنَّ مَا يَدْعُونَ مِنْ دُونِهِ هُوَ الْبَاطِلُ
[Al-Hajj: 62] So what is the meaning of: "There is no god but Allah"? There is no true object of worship but Allah, and "that Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah" Muhammad is the son of Abdullah, the Hashimi, the Qurashi, the seal of the prophets, "Messenger of Allah" meaning: He sent him to all people, indeed to the jinn and the humans.

The implication of the testimony that there is no god but Allah: Sincerity, that you make your worship pure for Allah, you do not show off, you do not seek fame, and you do not associate anyone with Allah in it,And the implication of the testimony that Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah: That you believe in what he reported, you comply with his command in what he commanded, you avoid his prohibition in what he prohibited and warned against, and you worship Allah with His Shari'ah, you do not innovate in it what is not from it. And for this reason, the testimony that there is no god but Allah and that Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah became one pillar; because every act of worship must have sincerity and following.
"And you establish the prayer" meaning: you come to it standing upright with its conditions, pillars, and obligations, and you perfect it with its perfecting factors,And among the conditions of the prayer: Purity from states of ritual impurity and physical impurities is one of the conditions, facing the qiblah is one of the conditions, the takbir of ihram is one of the pillars, the first tashahhud is one of its obligations, and repeating the tasbih three times is a recommended practice.

So establishing the prayer: You come to it with its conditions, pillars, and obligations, and you perfect it with its perfecting factors.
"And you give zakah" meaning: you give the obligatory zakah from wealth to those who are entitled to it - to the people who deserve it - and we will not speak about this; because it requires a long time, and it will come, if Allah wills, in its time.
"And you fast Ramadan" meaning: you abstain from the things that break the fast from the rising of the dawn to the setting of the sun in worship of Allah, Blessed and Exalted is He.
"And you perform Hajj to the House" This is the point at issue.
So the rank of Hajj in the religion of Islam is that it is a pillar of the pillars of Islam.
