The questioner : All right, a second question: A person drinks or eats while fasting voluntarily. Does it invalidate the fast, or does it not break it? Does the fast become invalid?

The Shaykh : I did not understand.

The questioner : A person drinks or eats while fasting voluntarily.

The Shaykh : There is no difference between voluntary fasting and obligatory fasting,
Whoever eats or drinks while forgetting that he is fasting, Allah has fed him and given him drink; he owes no making up of the fast and no expiation. مَن أكل أو شرب ناسيًا فإنما أطعَمَه الله وسقاه ، لا قضاء عليه ولا كفَّارة
