Is it permissible to decorate the home for the one returning from Hajj?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner : My teacher, some of the people in this country now decorate the doors of their houses for the return of the Muslim who has performed the obligatory Hajj. Does this have any basis in the Sunnah?

The Shaykh : Ah, on the contrary. Decorating the houses, if it is done with the consent of the returning pilgrim, then if it does not invalidate his deed, it certainly diminishes his reward, because it falls under the category of showing off and seeking fame. The Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
Whoever shows off to the people, Allah will show him off, and whoever makes the people hear of his deeds, Allah will make them hear of them. من راءى الناس راءى الله به ومن سمّع الناس سمّع الله به
And if it is done without the consent of the pilgrim, then the responsibility and accountability fall upon the family members who decorate the house on the occasion of the pilgrim's arrival.

The questioner : May Allah reward you with good, my teacher.

The Shaykh : Is there a question?

The questioner : Yes, peace be upon you.

The Shaykh : Hello.

The questioner : Yes, yes, my teacher [the line suddenly cut out and returned to the questioner].

The Shaykh: Yes.
