The Shaykh : Another group, on the contrary, go to Makkah, then to al-Madinah. They go to al-Masjid al-Haram, perform 'Umrah, and pray in the mosque. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
An Umra is an expiation for the sins committed between it and the next العمرة إلى العمرة كفارة لما بينهما
Sahih Muslim 1349a
, and he (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
Salat is this Masjid of mine is better than a thousand Salat in another, except for Masjid Al-Haram. صلاة في مسجدي هذا خير من ألف صلاة فيما سواه غير المسجد الحرام
Jami` at-Tirmidhi 325Sahih (Darussalam)
, and he (peace and blessings be upon him) informed in another hadith that
his prayer in the Sacred Mosque is equal to one hundred thousand prayers الصلاة في المسجد الحرام بمائة ألف صلاة
Sunan Ibn Majah 1413Da’if (Darussalam)
. So if you go there, for example, and pray Jumu'ah in al-Masjid al-Haram, how much is one Jumu'ah worth? It is worth one hundred thousand Jumu'ahs. You gain a long life. Then, if you go to Makkah and al-Madinah, and your money does not leave your homeland, whatever money you save, you have spent it in your homeland and benefited your Muslim brothers, the citizens.
