The questioner : He says:The questioner : The honorable Shaykh, one of the fathers was approached by a suitor of good character, religion, and righteousness, so he married her off despite her refusal of him, because she wanted to complete her university studies, i.e., her education. He married her off based on the hadith of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him):
for if you do not do that there will be Fitnah in the land and widespread corruption. إلا تفعلوا تكن فتنة في الأرض وفساد كبير
Sunan Ibn Majah 1967Da'if (Darussalam)
Is the contract valid, and does the father sin? Even though the daughter now thanks her father for this action, and may Allah reward you with good.

The Shaykh : Praise be to Allah. Since the daughter has now consented, agreed, and approved the contract, and thanked her father for this, the matter is ended, the matter is ended, because
A woman came to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and said: My father married me off while I was unwilling. So the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) gave her the freedom to remain with the husband or to annul the marriage, but she approved the marriage.
, she approved the marriage so that fathers would know that they do not have control over their daughters in marrying them to those they do not approve of. This is evidence that if a woman approves of a marriage that she had previously rejected, there is no blame on her. So, since the girl has consented, that is what is required.
But I say, in response to the question, where the woman refused marriage to a man of good character and religion in order to complete her studies at the university, I say that this is a wrong theory.
First: Completing university studies for a woman is not a matter of dire necessity. It is sufficient for a woman to know how to read and how to write, then she should retreat to what benefits her in her home, in the protection of her children and her husband. She does not need to advance to higher studies, because if she does that and advances to higher studies, that will be a burden on her afterwards. She will not be satisfied for herself with anything but a job that matches her degree. And if she takes that job, she will be preoccupied with what is more important: reforming her children, reforming her husband's home, and other such things. So, in my comment on this point in the question, it is not permissible at all for a woman to refuse marriage in order to complete her studies at the university. If she obtains the high school diploma, that contains much good and opens the door for whoever wants to increase in knowledge, because she has reached a stage where she can read and write, and that contains much good.
