A young man fell ill with cancer before Ramadan, and when Ramadan arrived he fasted for three days and broke the fast for the rest, and then he passed away. What is required of him?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner : A young man fell ill with cancer, may Allah protect us and you from it, before the month of Ramadan. He fasted for three days of Ramadan and broke the fast for the rest. After Ramadan, this young man passed away. What is required of him, given that he was sixteen years old? And should his guardian perform Hajj on his behalf?

The Shaykh : As for the fasting, he must feed one poor person for every day he did not fast. So his guardian must feed one poor person for every day he did not fast. If he fasted for three days, how many days is that? Twenty-seven days. So he must feed twenty-seven poor people on his behalf.
As for Hajj, it is not obligatory for his father to perform Hajj on his behalf, unless this deceased young man has money with which Hajj can be performed on his behalf, in which case it is performed on his behalf with that money. And if his guardian—his father, his brother, or his mother—volunteers to perform Hajj for him, there is nothing wrong with that.
