Is it permissible for a mother to take some money or gold from the suitor without making it a condition on him?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner : It is customary here for the mother to be given some money or gold without any condition on the suitor, but this is according to custom. Is it permissible for the mother to take that?

The Shaykh : It was reported in a hadith from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) that
What is given before the marriage contract is concluded belongs to the daughter, and no one has a right to it. ما كان قبل عقد النكاح فهو للبنت وليس لأحدٍ حق فيه
neither the mother nor the father [has a right to it]. And what is given after the marriage contract is concluded, there is no harm in a man honoring his daughter or his sister, and likewise a woman. It is said: If it is gifted to them after the marriage contract is concluded, there is nothing wrong with it. But before the contract, it belongs to the daughter. Yes.
