A man who usually prays Fajr after the sun has risen when going to work: is there anything required of him, and how should he proceed so that he prays Fajr in its time?

The questioner : A questioner says: “May the Shaykh be respected, I often miss the Fajr prayer, and I do not pray it until after the sun has risen when I want to go to my work.”

The Shaykh : There is no power and no strength except with Allah.

The questioner : And this matter may repeat many times, so is there anything required of me, and what should I do to maintain the prayer in its time?

The Shaykh : Do the following things: The first thing is to sleep early, and for this reason
The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) disliked going to bed before the 'Isha' (night) prayer and indulging in conversation after it. كان النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم يكره النوم قبل العشاء والحديث بعدها

, so that a person sleeps early in order to wake up early. This is one point. Second: You should have an intention when you sleep, along with determination and resolve, that you will get up for the Fajr prayer. When you do this, it will be easier for you to get up. Third: Use an alarm clock; set a clock by your head to wake you up. If you fear that when it sounds you will press it to silence it and remain asleep, move it away from you a little. Some people, out of their eagerness for prayer, would put the alarm clock in a can—do you know what a can is?—and keep it away from them so that its sound would be loud enough to wake them up. Do this; there is no harm in it. Fourth: If this is not feasible for you, put your phone by your head if you have one, and tell one of your brothers, “When the Fajr adhan is called, wake me up.” The important thing is that a person is able to do the causes that lead to waking up so that he can perform the Fajr prayer in its time. And whoever accustoms himself to laziness will not cease to be lazy. As for his prayer at a time other than its proper time, if he does this intentionally, his prayer is not accepted; it is returned to him, even if he prays it a thousand times. This is based on the saying of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him):
He who did any act for which there is no sanction from our behalf, that is to be rejected. من عمل عملاً ليس عليه أمرنا فهو رد
Sahih Muslim 1718b
, meaning: it is returned to him.
