If the pilgrim delays the Tawaf of Ifadah until his day of departure at the end of Dhu al-Hijjah, does this Tawaf suffice in place of the Tawaf of Farewell?

The questioner : He says: You mentioned, O honorable Shaykh, in the previous session: that it is permissible to delay the Tawaf of Ifadah until before the pilgrim’s departure, even if he is to depart at the end of Dhu al-Hijjah. The question: If the pilgrim delays the Tawaf of Ifadah until his day of departure to his country, does this Tawaf suffice in place of the Tawaf of Farewell? And is it permissible for the pilgrim to perform the Tawaf of Ifadah and the Tawaf of Farewell on the same day?

The Shaykh : We mentioned this previously in detail and said: It is permissible for a person to delay the Tawaf of Ifadah until his departure. If he performs the Tawaf upon his departure, it suffices for him in place of the Tawaf of Farewell, unless his departure is delayed until after the month of Dhu al-Hijjah. In that case, it is obligatory for him to perform the Tawaf of Ifadah in the month of Dhu al-Hijjah. We also mentioned: If he delays the Tawaf of Ifadah until his departure and performs it with the intention of Ifadah only, it suffices for him in place of the Tawaf of Farewell. If he performs it with the intention of Farewell only, it does not suffice for him in place of the Tawaf of Ifadah. If he performs it for both, it suffices for him for both. For this reason, we must be careful and not forget that if we delay the Tawaf of Ifadah until departure, we must not forget the Tawaf of Ifadah.
