A person gave me a sum of money to find someone who had not performed the obligatory Hajj so that I could perform it on his behalf

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner : He says: Noble Shaykh, a person gave me a sum of money to find someone who had not performed the obligatory Hajj so that I could perform it on his behalf. Allah made it easy for me to find a young man. But the money was lost while I was on the way. I do not know if it was stolen from the bag or from the house, as we have a driver and his wife. The young man performed Hajj—praise be to Allah—and I paid for his sacrificial animal. I asked for forgiveness from those we performed Hajj with and told him the story. He said: There is no blame. However, since this young man’s Hajj cost only half of the amount, should I guarantee the remaining amount and give it in charity, or return it, or use it to perform Hajj for another person? I ask for my rescue. May Allah save you, your parents, and the listeners from the Fire?

The Shaykh : Amen. As long as this man did not neglect to safeguard the money, and placed it in a secure location, and also put it in the pocket on his chest, not the pocket on his side, because the pocket on the side is not secure in reality in a crowd. Because in a crowd, anyone can put their hand in it and take out whatever they want. But the pocket should be on the chest. So I say: If he did not neglect it, there is no harm. But if he was negligent, then he must guarantee these monies and return the excess to the person who gave it to him. Yes.
