I am a woman who married fifteen years ago and have not performed Hajj due to circumstances

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner : Honorable Shaykh, I am a woman who married fifteen years ago and have not performed Hajj due to circumstances, and I have not performed Hajj due to circumstances. Allah the Exalted made it easy for me this year that a charity—a sum of money—came to me, and I do not possess the cost of Hajj. This sum is from a man known for usury, and people know that about him. He has usurious banks. The question, O honorableThe Shaykh : Do I perform Hajj? Knowing that I do not know whether this money I received is from usury or from what is lawful? And what do I do, knowing that my brother will be my mahram?

The Shaykh : There is no blame on a person if one of the usurers gives him charity, that he performs Hajj with what was given to him as charity. There is also no blame on him to accept what was gifted to him, because the sin of usury is on whom? It is on its owner. As for the one who received it, he received it through a lawful path, through the path of gift, through the path of charity. The evidence for this is that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) accepted gifts from the Jews, ate the food of the Jews, and bought from the Jews, even though the Jews were known for usury and eating illicit wealth. Yes, if we suppose that a person stole a sheep from a man’s flock and came and gifted it to you. Here we say: it is forbidden for you, because you know that this sheep is not his property. But if he deals in usury, his sin is upon himself. And whoever takes from him through a lawful path, it is permissible from him. So we say to this woman: There is no blame on you to perform Hajj with the money that was given to you by whoever is known for usury. Yes.
