A woman fell into a coma at the beginning of the month of Rajab, and she is still in a coma. Is it obligatory for us to feed on her behalf, or is it excused for her, or what should we do?

The questioner : He says: A woman fell into a coma at the beginning of the month of Rajab, and she is still in a coma. Is it obligatory for us to feed on her behalf, or is it excused for her, or what should we do?

The Shaykh : Yes. As for this woman who is in a coma, if there is hope that she will recover, wait until she recovers. If there is no hope that she will recover, then feed one poor person for each day on her behalf, because if there is no hope of her recovery, she becomes of the same category as a sick person. In fact, she is sick with an illness from which recovery is not expected. It is obligatory for one who is sick with an illness from which recovery is not expected to feed one poor person for each day. If there is hope that she will recover, wait until she recovers. And we ask Allah for her health. Yes.
