Ruling on making up the prayer for one who was in a coma

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
We received a message from the listener (S. B. F), who says in his message: I have a woman who was involved in an accident and fell into a coma. The coma lasted for a month and five days, and for three months she was unable to perform the prayer properly.
Please inform us—may Allah reward you with good—what is the ruling on the prayers she did not perform previously?
And peace be upon you and the mercy of Allah and His blessings.

Answer:
The correct view is that she owes no make-up. One who is struck by an accident to the point of losing consciousness is of the same category as the insane or the mentally impaired; he owes no make-up. However, if the duration is short, such as one, two, or three days, there is no harm in making it up, just as with a sleeper or one who has fainted. But if the duration is long and becomes significant, it is more like the case of the insane or the mentally impaired, so he owes no make-up. This is the correct opinion among the scholars.
As for if the absence of consciousness is two or three days, it is more like the case of a sleeper, so he makes it up. It is narrated from some of the Companions that they fainted for a short period—one day, two days, or three—and they made up the prayers. Yes.
