What is the reconciliation between the two hadiths (… Marry women who are loving and fertile, for I shall boast of you before the nations) and the hadith (… but you will be like the scum of a flood …)?

The Shaykh: Yes.
The student : Regarding the question, the comment is as follows.

The Shaykh: Go ahead.
The student : As for
Marry those who are loving and fertile, for I will boast of you before the nations on the Day of Resurrection تزوَّجوا الودود الولود ؛ فإنِّي مباهٍ بكم الأمم يوم القيامة
, there is another hadith in it, meaning I do not know it completely, but the meaning of the hadith is that it mentions "like the scum of a flood," but you will be like the scum of a flood, meaning a nation that is not numerous in this way, so I do not know how to explain it.

The Shaykh : Yes, in the first hadith, as I hinted at earlier, he wants his nation to multiply, but to understand their religion and to act upon it. He does not want the multitude that he referred to in the hadith you are pointing to, which is his saying (peace and blessings be upon him):
The people will soon summon one another to attack you as people when eating invite others to share their dish ستتداعى عليكم الأمم كما تداعى الأكلة إلى قصعتها
Sunan Abi Dawud 4297Sahih (Al-Albani)
. They said: "O Messenger of Allah, are we few at that time?" He said:
No, you will be numerous at that time: but you will be scum and rubbish like that carried down by a torrent, and Allah will take fear of you from the breasts of your enemy and last enervation into your hearts. لا ، بل أنتم يومئذٍ كثير ، ولكنَّكم غثاء كغثاء السيل ، ولَينزِعَنَّ الله الرهبة من صدور عدوِّكم ، وليقذفَنَّ في قلوبكم الوهن
Sunan Abi Dawud 4297Sahih (Al-Albani)
. They said: "And what is weakness, O Messenger of Allah?" He said:
Love of the world and dislike of death حبُّ الدنيا وكراهية الموت
Sunan Abi Dawud 4297Sahih (Al-Albani)
; therefore, what is condemned here is not what is desired there, so there is absolutely no contradiction between the two hadiths.
