The Shaykh : No, it does not invalidate the breastfeeding relationship, but the important thing is how many sucklings were from this one or from that one.

The questioner : For example, if it was five sucklings.

The Shaykh : If it was five sucklings, she becomes a mother to the infant.
The student : And if it was four.

The Shaykh : He does not do that.
The student : She does not become a mother.

The Shaykh: Yes.
The student : Meaning, if it was four sucklings, it is permissible for him to marry her daughter.

The Shaykh: Yes.

The questioner : Shaykh, if this one breastfed him three times and that one breastfed him five times, does the five count or the three?

The Shaykh : The one who breastfed five times, whether she did so alone or mixed with others in the sucklings, the one who breastfed five full sucklings is the mother.
