The ruling on repeating 'Umrah in a single journey and the Sunnah regarding it.

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : In light of this, may Allah reward you, let us look at an action performed by those who come for 'Umrah, which is that they repeat 'Umrah several times in a single journey. A person performs 'Umrah for himself, then for his father, then for his mother, and he may go beyond that by performing 'Umrah for his grandfather and grandmother, and he may go beyond that by performing 'Umrah for his brother and sister, and the days of the ten or the days of the entire month become days of 'Umrah.
So what do you say based on these two conditions we mentioned? Is this action in accordance with the Sunnah or contrary to the Sunnah? Please stand up.
The student: ... .

The Shaykh : It is contrary to the Sunnah; this action is contrary to the Sunnah. And if it is contrary to the Sunnah, it is fitting for the believer to adhere to the action that the Sunnah brought.
So if someone says: Your statement that it is contrary to the Sunnah is a claim, and a claim requires evidence and proof to support it, based on the saying of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him):
The proof is on the claimant البينة -على من؟- على المدعي
. The proof is on the claimant.
So I say: The evidence for its being contrary to the Sunnah is that the Sunnah is either establishing something or leaving it. If the cause of an action existed in the time of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) and he did not do it, is doing it for that cause a Sunnah or a bid'ah (religious innovation)? Do I know if you understand the concept or not? If the cause of an action existed in the time of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) and he did not do it, is doing it for that cause a Sunnah or a bid'ah? It is a bid'ah, because when the requirement, which is the cause, existed and the obstacle was absent, yet he did not do it, this indicates that the Sunnah is leaving it. And if the Sunnah is leaving it, then its opposite, which is doing it, is a bid'ah, because the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) divided actions into Sunnah and bid'ah, saying:
Hold fast to my Sunnah and beware of newly invented matters عليكم بسنتي وإياكم ومحدثات الأمور
.
We know, or many of us know, that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) conquered Mecca in which year? In the year
the eighth, and in which month? In Ramadan, the conquest of Mecca, and the historians mentioned that his entry in this conquest was on a Friday corresponding to the twentieth of the month.
And he established what he established of tawhid (the oneness of Allah), and security took root in Mecca, and the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) stayed in it for nineteen days, ten days of Ramadan and nine of Shawwal, and he was able, with great ease and simplicity, to go out to al-Tan'if or other places in the non-sacred area to perform 'Umrah. Is that not so? But he did not do so, even though he came at the end of the month, which is the best of the months, and did not perform 'Umrah.
And this is evidence that a person going out from Mecca to perform 'Umrah, as many people do today, is not from the Sunnah, and let us leave the people of Mecca, for perhaps there is another discussion regarding them.
But I say to these visitors who come from their countries and take several 'Umrahs in this journey, we say: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), despite 'Umrah being prepared for him, and despite him being the most eager of people for good, and despite the fact that the action of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) in worship is not like our action, because his action in worship includes two things: drawing near to Allah by doing it, and the second is legislation. So he is required in worship from two aspects: from the aspect of worshipping Allah with it, and from the aspect of legislating for the Ummah. As for us, we are required to worship Allah with it.
And perhaps the scholar among us is required in two things:
worshipping Allah with it, and explaining it to people and that it is from the Shari'ah.
I say: If this strong requirement existed in the time of the Messenger and he did not do it, it indicates that the Sunnah is leaving 'Umrah from Mecca for the one who came to it.
And if this is the Sunnah, which is more fitting for the believer: to do the Sunnah, or to do what he inclines to and desires?
To do the Sunnah, because whoever does the Sunnah contrary to his desire has worshipped Allah with guidance, not with desire. And whoever prioritizes what he wants over the Sunnah has worshipped Allah with desire, not with guidance. And the person is commanded to worship Allah the Exalted with guidance, not with desire.
