Is there anyone today whose lineage to the People of the House is valid, and is voluntary charity permissible for him if he is poor?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner : He says:The questioner : I testify to the Great Allah that I love you for the sake of Allah. O Shaykh, is there anyone today who claims to be from the People of the House? And is voluntary charity permissible for him if he is poor?

The Shaykh : Yes, I say to my brother whom Allah loves, as He loves us in Him, and I ask Allah to make me and you among those who love one another for the sake of Allah.
As for the answer: Is there anyone whose lineage to the People of the House is valid or not? This returns to history and the tracing of lineages. Many people have claimed to be from the People of the House when they are not. Therefore, one must refer to history and books of lineage to know this matter.
And if it is established that this man is from the People of the House, then it is not permissible for him to take zakah, due to the saying of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) to his uncle al-Abbas, when he asked him to give him from the zakah:
Sadaqa to the family of Muhammad is not halal. It is only people's impurities. إن الصدقة لا تحل لآل محمّد إنما هي أوساخ الناس
Muwatta Malik 58:13
.
The scholars differed regarding voluntary charity: is it permissible for them to accept it or not? The correct view is that it is permissible for them to accept it, because voluntary charity is not the filth of people. The filth of people is the obligatory charity.
But the consideration remains: if we say that these are from the People of the House, and they do not accept the obligatory zakah, and they become poor and in dire straits, then at that time it is obligatory for the Muslims to save them from this hunger and nakedness, because feeding the hungry and clothing the naked is a collective obligation.
