What are the conditions for wiping over the head covering?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner : This question has likely been asked before. Wiping over the head covering is the same as wiping over the turban, and wiping over the turban has been reported.

The Shaykh : Stick to the first wording.

The questioner : The head covering that was mentioned applies to both men and women.

The Shaykh : It is the same for both.

The questioner : Okay, what are the conditions for this head covering? Does it have to cover, for example, all areas?

The Shaykh : There are no conditions like those for the leather socks, sandals, or socks. Anything that is a turban is valid without any condition, because the matter is as he (peace be upon him) said, even if it were not for this occasion:
Every conditions that is not in the Book of Allah (SWT) is invalid, even if there are one hundred conditions كل شرط ليس في كتاب الله فهو باطل ولو كان مئة شرط
Sunan Ibn Majah 2521Sahih (Darussalam)
The truth is that some schools of jurisprudence restricted a wide aspect of the mercy of Allah the Exalted when they came to rulings that were stated in the Shari'ah in an absolute manner, without restriction and without condition. They applied their opinions and independent legal reasoning to them, thereby narrowing a wide aspect of the mercy of Allah the Exalted. The clearest example of this restriction is wiping over the socks, where you find strange and very unusual conditions, such as the distance one can walk in them so that they do not tear, or that they must be thick enough that water does not seep to the skin, or that they must stay on the leg naturally, and they may add that they must not be torn. None of these things has an explicit text, not even from the Salaf. In fact, some of them reported things that contradict these conditions. I do not wish to delve into them, but I wanted to say that the same applies to the turban: there is no condition. Everything that came regarding the turban is that the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) used to wipe over his turban; he used to wipe over the head covering. The head covering is the covering of the head, and it is a garment shared by women and men, contrary to what some people think. As long as the head is covered with something, if it is easy for him to wipe the head directly, that is the predominant practice of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him). If he has a turban on his head and wipes over it, whether the whole of it or part of it, because this detail has come in the authentic Sunnah, then all of that is permissible. The Muslim either wipes directly over his head, the whole head, or he wipes over his turban, the whole wiping, or he wipes over his forehead and completes it over his turban. As for wiping only a quarter of the head, this is not valid in the Sunnah. So the turban is the head covering, and the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) wiped over the head covering or the turban without any condition mentioned. As Ibn Hazm and others (may Allah have mercy on him) said in this context:
And never is your Lord forgetful - وما كان ربك نسيا
[Maryam 19:64]
Yes.
