I used to give private lessons because I am a teacher, and I did not think it was forbidden because most teachers do so, and after I became certain that it is not

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner : The questioner says: I used to give private lessons because I am a teacher, and I did not think it was forbidden because most teachers do so. Now I have become certain that it is not permissible, and I regret it. But is the money collected from these lessons forbidden or not? What is the way to repent? Is it sufficient to purify it, meaning to purify the money? And if it is forbidden, how should I dispose of it, especially since I have added my salary from previous salaries to it, given the long duration? How can I get rid of it? May you be rewarded.

The Shaykh : It is known that this forbidden act is not forbidden by the Shari'ah in itself, but it is forbidden because the rulers have prohibited it. The compensation the questioner received was in exchange for what she provided to the learners; she gave compensation and received compensation. If the matter became clear to her and she repented, then what she earned is lawful, and she is not required to give it in charity. This is based on the saying of Allah, Blessed and Exalted is He, regarding those who deal in riba:
So whoever has received an admonition from his Lord and desists may have what is past, and his affair rests with Allah فَمَنْ جَاءَهُ مَوْعِظَةٌ مِنْ رَبِّهِ فَانتَهَى فَلَهُ مَا سَلَفَ وَأَمْرُهُ إِلَى اللَّهِ
[Al-Baqarah 2:275]
So let her be pleased with the money she earned, and let her know that there is no doubt in it and no sin upon her regarding it.

The questioner : May Allah bless you.
