What is the ruling on the slaughter of a mushrik (one who associates partners with Allah)?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner : Even if, for example, a mushrik (one who associates partners with Allah) who does not believe in Allah slaughters an animal with a knife, and in his intention he says that he mentioned the name of Allah? It is not permissible.

The Shaykh : No, that is another issue. That is why I told you that the hadith has no relation to the method of slaughter, but rather its relation is to Muslims who recently embraced Islam. The early Muslims did not know when these slaughtered animals came from them whether they had mentioned the name of Allah over them or not. As for the slaughterer being a Muslim, that is a condition. As for the slaughterer being from the People of the Book, that is a condition that is necessary. These are settled matters that the hadith does not address; it only addresses the issue of mentioning the name. So if we doubt whether some of the slaughtered animals had the name of Allah mentioned over them or not, we mention the name of Allah (Mighty and Majestic) when we eat from that slaughter.
