The Meaning of His Saying (peace and blessings be upon him): “And make Your decree easy for him.”

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : He said, addressing his Lord:
O Allah, whoever believes in You and testifies that I am Your Messenger, make meeting You beloved to him, and make Your decree easy for him. اللَّهُمَّ مَن آمَن بِكَ ، وشَهِد أَنِّي رسولُك ؛ فحبِّبْ إليه لِقاءَك ، وسَهِّلْ عليه قَضاءَكَ
Sahih Ibn Hibban 4:83
.
Making the decree easy can be interpreted here in two ways. The first is that the impact of the decree is easy for him; that is, the decreed fate may be a suspended, severe destiny. When the Prophet’s (peace be upon him) supplication comes, this destiny becomes an easy, bearable fate. The second meaning is that no matter how heavy or difficult this decree is for the human soul, the Messenger (may Allah’s prayers and peace be upon him) supplicates to his Lord and asks Him to make this decree easy for the believer, whatever its nature may be.
Whether the intended meaning is the first or the second, this supplication is in reality a direction from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) to the believer, through supplication to his Lord, to what he directed his believing followers toward in a specific hadith, which we have mentioned more than once. That is his saying (may Allah’s prayers and peace be upon him):
The affair of the believer is wondrous in its entirety. If good befalls him, he praises Allah and gives thanks, and it is good for him. If bad befalls him, he is patient, and it is good for him. Thus, the entire affair of the believer is good, and this is only for the believer.
. The believer who possesses this character receives the decree from his Lord in both its types; if it is good or if it is bad, he receives it with satisfaction and submission. That badness is thereby transformed into good for him. This is part of the facilitation for which the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) supplicated to his Lord, asking Him to make the decree easy for those who believed in Allah and affirmed the prophethood of His Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him).
