The Shaykh : You should fear his anger if you are the one causing it, because you are opposing the Shari'ah that He has made clear to you. But if he opposes the Shari'ah, do not be concerned with him. It is not obligatory for us to guide them to our guidance, nor is it obligatory for them to convey our words and deeds to us. On this occasion, I am going to narrate to you a very serious hadith regarding scholars who say what they do not do. The Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) said, and the hadith is in Sahih al-Bukhari... Imam al-Bukhari narrates in his Sahih from the hadith of Usamah ibn Zayd, who said: The Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) said
The scholar will be brought on the Day of Resurrection
Is it the scholar or the ignorant one?
The audience: The scholar.

The Shaykh :
The scholar will be brought on the Day of Resurrection and thrown into the Fire, and the sides of his belly will split open
They will come out to his back
And he will turn in the Fire as a donkey turns around a millstone, and the people of the Fire will circle around him
in amazement
They will see him and remember him, and they will say, "O so-and-so, were you not the one who used to enjoin good upon us and forbid us from evil?" He will say, "Yes, I used to enjoin good upon you and I did not do it, and I used to forbid you from evil and I did it."
This scholar has no value with Allah; he is not worth the wing of a gnat. And therefore the people of knowledge say: "
And a scholar who did not act upon his knowledge ** is punished before the worshippers of idols "
And in another hadith in Sahih Muslim from the hadith of Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him), it was said: The Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) said
with whom the fire will be enflamed on the Day of Judgement
Jami` at-Tirmidhi 2382Sahih (Darussalam)
Who are they?
Three: a scholar, a mujahid, and a wealthy man
These people must be in the highest ranks. Why are they in the Fire before everything else?
The first ones for whom the Fire will be kindled on the Day of Resurrection are three: a scholar, a mujahid, and a wealthy man. The scholar will be brought and it will be said to him, "O My servant, what did you do with what you taught?" He will say, "O my Lord, I spread it among the people for Your sake." It will be said to him, "You lied. You only taught so that people would say, 'So-and-so is a scholar.' And it was said, 'Take him to the Fire.'"
Meaning, you were teaching people not for My pleasure, but for your fame and the spread of your reputation among people, so that people would say, "So-and-so is a scholar." And what you desired has been achieved; people have said you are a scholar. So you have taken your reward, so take your punishment today.
(88) The Day when there will not benefit [anyone] wealth or children (89) But only one who comes to Allah with a sound heart."
[Ash-Shu'ara 26:88-89]
This scholar did not come to Allah with a sound heart, but he came to Allah with a heart full of showing off, love of appearance, and good reputation. It was said, "Take him to the Fire." This scholar
Then the mujahid will be brought and it will be said to him, "What did you do with the strength I gave you?" He will say, "O my Lord, I fought in Your cause." It will be said to him, "You lied. You only fought so that people would say, 'So-and-so is a mujahid.' And it was said...
Just as you took your reward in this world, "So-and-so is a mujahid," "So-and-so is a hero"
...Take him to the Fire. Then the wealthy man will be brought and it will be said to him, "What did you do with the wealth I bestowed upon you?" He will say, "O my Lord, I distributed it and spent it in Your cause." It will be said to him, "You lied. You only did it so that people would say, 'So-and-so is generous.' And it was said, 'Take him to the Fire.'" ...
So the point is that distinction with Allah (Mighty and Majestic) does not occur in what appears merely through knowledge or status or the like, but rather through racing in righteous deeds with Allah (Mighty and Majestic).
