Is it permissible for the mother of the husband to enter the room of her son's wife in her absence and take whatever she wishes on the pretext that this is her son's property?

The questioner : The questioner says: Is it permissible for the mother of the husband to enter the room of her son's wife in her absence and take from her or from this room whatever she wishes on the pretext that this is her son's property?

The Shaykh : It is not permissible for the mother of the husband to enter the private room of her son's wife, because these are secrets that a person does not like to have others look into. I advise the mother of this husband to fear Allah the Exalted in herself and not to tyrannize over this poor captive, because the wife with her husband is like a captive with his captor, as the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: So this mother should fear Allah Mighty and Majestic in herself and not harm this woman, for Allah the Exalted said in His Noble Book: And perhaps her harming this woman will be a cause for the husband to separate from her, making her in the position of the sorcerers who learn from sorcery what they use to separate a man from his wife. Then, in her state of tyrannizing over her son's wife without right, she is an oppressor, and the wife has the right to supplicate against her, based on the saying of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) to Mu'adh ibn Jabal when he sent him to Yemen: And let this mother know that if she oppresses and the oppressed one supplicates against her, Allah will answer her supplication, even if after a long time. Perhaps the supplication will not be answered quickly, but the oppressed one who turns to Allah must be helped, even if after a long time.
