Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : The second hadith is the hadith of Anas that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) entered upon a young man who was dying and said
How do you find yourself? كيف تجدك ؟
He said “I hope for Allah, O Messenger of Allah, and I fear my sins” Then the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said
These two will not be gathered in a worshipper's heart at a time such as this, except that Allah will grant him what he hopes and make him safe from what he fears. لا يجتمعان في قلب عبد في مثل هذا الموطن إلا أعطاه الله ما يرجو و أمّنه مما يخاف
Jami` at-Tirmidhi 983Hasan (Darussalam)
Al-Tirmidhi narrated it and said it is a strange hadith, and Ibn Majah and Ibn Abi al-Dunya also narrated it, all of them from the narration of Ja'far ibn Sulayman al-Dab'i from Thabit from Anas. The Hafiz, meaning al-Mundhiri, said its chain is good, for Ja'far is truthful and sound, and Muslim relied on him, and al-Nasa'i deemed him trustworthy, while al-Daraqutni and others spoke about him.
