What is the ruling on making du'a' during the adhan?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner : What is the ruling on making du'a' during the adhan?

The Shaykh : Following the mu'adhdhin and responding to him is better than making du'a'. So when he says: Allahu Akbar, say: Allahu Akbar. When he says: Ashhadu an la ilaha illa Allah, say: Ashhadu an la ilaha illa Allah. When he says: Ashhadu anna Muhammadan rasul Allah, say: Ashhadu anna Muhammadan rasul Allah. When he says: Hayya 'ala al-salah, say: La hawla wa la quwwata illa bi-Allah. When he says: Hayya 'ala al-falah, say: La hawla wa la quwwata illa bi-Allah. When he says: Al-salah khayrun min al-nawm in the first adhan for the Fajr prayer, say: Al-salah khayrun min al-nawm. When he says: Allahu Akbar, say: Allahu Akbar. When he says: La ilaha illa Allah, say: La ilaha illa Allah. This is better than making du'a' and better than reciting the Qur'an, because it is a specific dhikr that is missed if its time passes. However, when the mu'adhdhin finishes, say: O Allah, send blessings upon Muhammad. O Allah, Lord of this perfect call and the established prayer, grant Muhammad the intercession and the high rank, and raise him to the praiseworthy position You have promised him. Indeed, You do not break Your promise. Then make du'a' to Allah the Exalted with whatever you wish, for du'a' between the adhan and the iqamah is not rejected.

The questioner : May Allah bless you.
