Explanation of the supplication transmitted after the adhan

Question:
It is reported that the listener to the mu'adhdhin says this supplication: "I am pleased with Allah as my Lord, with Muhammad as my Messenger, and with Islam as my religion." Is this said immediately after the adhan?

Answer:
It is established from the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) that he commanded responding to the mu'adhdhin. In the two Sahihs, from Abu Sa'id, from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), that he said:
When you hear the Mu'adhdhin then say what he says
Sunan an-Nasa'i 678Sahih (Darussalam)
.
And in Sahih Muslim, from Abdullah ibn Amr ibn al-As (may Allah be pleased with them both), that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
When you hear the mu'adhdhin, say what he says, then send blessings upon me, for whoever sends one blessing upon me, Allah will send ten blessings upon him. Then ask Allah for me the wasilah, for it is a rank in Paradise that is not fitting except for a slave of Allah, and I hope that I will be the one. And whoever asks Allah for me the wasilah, intercession will be granted to him.
.
And in the hadith of Jabir ibn Abdullah in al-Bukhari (may Allah have mercy on him), from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), that he said:
if anyone says when he hears the call to prayer : “O Allah, Lord of this perfect call and of the prayer which is established for all time, grant Muhammad the wasilah and excellency, and raise him up in a praiseworthy position which Thou hast promised, he will be assured of my intercession.من قال حين يسمع النداء: اللهم رب هذه الدعوة التامة، والصلاة القائمة، آت محمدًا الوسيلة، والفضيلة، وابعثه مقامًا محمودًا الذي وعدته إلا حلت له شفاعتي يوم القيامة
Sunan Abi Dawud 529Sahih (Al-Albani)
. Al-Bukhari narrated it in his Sahih.
Some people add "and the high rank" to it, but this has no basis; it is not in the narration. It may be found in some books as "and the high rank," but it has no basis and is not in the narration. The high rank is the wasilah (intermediary position), and the wasilah is the high rank; it is an explanation of it. The hadith only mentions the wasilah and the virtue, not the high rank, as it may be on the tongues of some people or in the writings of some people.
So the Sunnah is to say it this way. When the mu'adhdhin says, "I bear witness that there is no god but Allah, I bear witness that Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah," the responder says the same: "I bear witness that there is no god but Allah, I bear witness that Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah." And he says: "I bear witness that there is no god but Allah alone, with no partner, and I bear witness that Muhammad is His slave and His Messenger." And he says at this point: "I am pleased with Allah as my Lord, with Islam as my religion, and with Muhammad as my Messenger."
This is how it came from him (peace and blessings be upon him) at the testimony. Muslim narrated it in his Sahih from Sa'd ibn Abi Waqqas (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
Whoever says when the mu'adhdhin says: "I bear witness that there is no god but Allah, I bear witness that Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah," and he says: "I bear witness, I am pleased with Allah as my Lord, with Islam as my religion, and with Muhammad as my Messenger," his sin will be forgiven.
.
And in a wording, he said: When he says the testimony: "I bear witness that there is no god but Allah alone, with no partner, and I bear witness that Muhammad is His slave and His Messenger," he says at that time:
I am pleased with Allah as Lord, with Islam as religion and with Muhammad (ﷺ) as Apostle
Sunan Abi Dawud 1529Sahih (Al-Albani)
or he said:
His sin is forgiven
.
This indicates that it is recommended to say this phrase at the two testimonies. He says: "I am pleased with Allah as my Lord, with Islam as my religion, and with Muhammad as my Messenger." At the two testimonies, he responds to the mu'adhdhin by saying: "I bear witness that there is no god but Allah, I bear witness that there is no god but Allah, I bear witness that Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah, I bear witness that Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah," or he says: "And I bear witness that there is no god but Allah, and I bear witness that Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah." Then he says after this: "I am pleased with Allah as my Lord, with Islam as my religion, and with Muhammad as my Messenger, (peace and blessings be upon him)."
And at the two exclamations of "Allahu Akbar," he says: "There is no power and no strength except with Allah, there is no power and no strength except with Allah, there is no power and no strength except with Allah, there is no power and no strength except with Allah." This is what is prescribed for each one. And in the hadith of Umar in Muslim:
he who makes a re- sponse from the heart: There is no god but Allah, he will enter Paradise.
Sahih Muslim 385
. Whoever says this dhikr from his heart will enter Paradise. This is a great favor. One should take care in listening to the adhan. Some people do not care when they hear it, and do not care. This is a deprivation of this good.
So the best for you, if you hear it, is to refrain from speaking and from recitation, and to respond to this mu'adhdhin by saying what you say. And you say at the two testimonies: "I am pleased with Allah as my Lord," with the two testimonies. You testify and say with the two testimonies: "I am pleased with Allah as my Lord, with Islam as my religion, and with Muhammad as my Messenger." And you say at the exclamation: "There is no power and no strength except with Allah." And when it is complete, you send blessings upon the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), then you say: "O Allah, Lord of this perfect call and the established prayer, grant Muhammad the wasilah and the virtue, and raise him to the praised station which You have promised him," as the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) guided to this.
