The Shaykh Al-Albani’s response to statements found in one of the books of contemporary scholars regarding taqlid (following a scholar without knowing his evidence) and adherence.

The Shaykh : Perhaps those who attended the previous lesson remember well the saying of the writer referred to in his questioning and his correction, where he said: "But have you been able to instill this correct concept in the minds of those who claim to follow your path?" I spoke about this specific sentence with sufficient detail, and in my opinion, sufficiently, in the previous lesson.
And I am speaking about the rest of it. He said: "Reality confirms that few of them have held themselves to this methodology, while the majority are the opposite of that; they see in the schools of jurisprudence nothing but an enemy that must be eliminated. And we have seen and heard from their great ones, between two quotation marks, one who openly declares this opinion, and from their middle ones, one who says: It is necessary first to burn all the books of the schools of jurisprudence."
The writer attributes this statement to some of those who claim to follow the Salafi call, and he divides them into two groups: the great and the small. Perhaps this division indicates the man’s attempt to be fair to those he is criticizing.
What concerns me in commenting on these lines is two matters, one of which is more important than the other. So let us begin with the more important one, then with the one below it. The first is: What is the position of the Salafi call regarding the schools of jurisprudence and their imams? This is the first and most important matter, as I mentioned. The other matter.
