Exaggeration regarding the awliya (close friends of Allah) and the righteous

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner : ... the awliya ...

The Shaykh : Excuse me, there is one word left regarding the awliya and the righteous. In fact, many Muslims today, not only in Egypt as you pointed out, but also in Syria and perhaps here, have shrines where it is claimed that awliya or righteous people are buried. People visit them to fulfill their needs, seek blessing from them, and tie rags around them, believing that the wali will remember them before his Lord and ask Him to fulfill their need. All of this contradicts the good word, "La ilaha illa Allah" (There is no god but Allah); because the meaning of "La ilaha illa Allah" is that there is no deity worthy of worship in existence except Allah. When a Muslim comes to visit a grave and asks the deceased for support, help, healing, or the like, all of this is shirk (associating partners with Allah) and polytheism. The Najdis fight against this with the fiercest combat, because the Book of Allah is based on this. One of the scientific facts that Muslims today overlook, except for a few of them, is that we are ignorant of the type of shirk that the polytheists who were directly sent to by the Messenger and who fought him had. Many suppose that these people denied the existence of Allah. This is a mistake; they believed in the existence of Allah (Blessed and Exalted is He); because the explicit Qur'an says, what is it? No, no, no:
And if you asked them, "Who created the heavens and earth?" they would surely say, "Allah." وَلَئِن سَأَلْتَهُم مَّنْ خَلَقَ السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالْأَرْضَ لَيَقُولُنَّ اللَّهُ
[Luqman 31:25]
They explicitly state that the Creator is One with no partner. This is one of many verses that narrate their belief that the Creator is One. So what was their disbelief? Allah the Exalted said in the other verse:
And those who take protectors besides Him [say], "We only worship them that they may bring us nearer to Allah in position." وَالَّذِينَ اتَّخَذُوا مِنْ دُونِهِ أَوْلِيَاءَ مَا نَعْبُدُهُمْ إِلَّا لِيُقَرِّبُونَا إِلَى اللَّهِ زُلْفي
[Az-Zumar 39:3]
So their ultimate goal was Allah, and when they took gods other than Allah, they made them a means to reach Him and bring them closer to Allah (Blessed and Exalted is He). It is a grave and fatal ignorance for Muslims to think that the difference between the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) and the polytheists was that they denied the existence of Allah. Not at all; rather, they denied the divinity of Allah, not the lordship of Allah. They did not believe in the oneness— but please, do not rush a little—
