The questioner : The questioner says: Previously, O honorable Shaykh, I performed the obligatory Hajj with my brother, his wife, my daughter's husband, and his mother. I did not choose a specific type of Hajj when I intended to perform Hajj due to my ignorance of it; I only intended to perform Hajj. We also performed the arrival circumambulation and prayed five obligatory prayers in Mina on the Day of Arafah, then we stood at 'Arafah, then we passed through Muzdalifah to collect the pebbles. On the morning of the Day of Sacrifice, I went with my brother to stone the Jamrat al-Aqabah. I stoned the pillar with seven pebbles at once and noticed that these pebbles did not reach the target due to the heavy crowd; perhaps they hit one of the pilgrims or fell near me. After that, I did not stone on the following two days, and I did not know at that time whether I had appointed my brother to stone on my behalf or not. I asked him now, and he answered that he does not know, due to the length of time, approximately fifteen years. However, he says: If I appointed him, then he stoned on my behalf, but he has no certainty. Knowing that we completed the rituals of Hajj, including the farewell circumambulation, the sa'y of Hajj, and the farewell circumambulation, except for the deficiency in stoning. Please inform us, may Allah reward you with good?

The Shaykh : I say that it is obligatory, according to what the jurists (may Allah have mercy on them) have established, that she slaughter a sheep in Mecca in place of the stoning, or a ram, or a male goat, or a female goat in Mecca. She slaughters it and distributes it to the poor, because she left an obligatory act of Hajj. The criterion for leaving obligatory acts, according to the jurists, is that whoever leaves it must pay a fidyah, which is slaughtered in Mecca and distributed to the poor.

The questioner : May Allah reward you with good.
