The questioner : The questioner, Alaa, we reviewed some of her questions in a previous episode. This question remains for her. She asks: Is there a cure for the disease of infertility, and can an infertile person have children if he supplicates to Allah (Mighty and Majestic), given that the doctors have told him that he will not have children?
The Shaykh : As for what Allah (Mighty and Majestic) has decreed, there is no changer for it, as Allah the Exalted said:[Ar-Ra'd 13:41] And Allah (Glorified and Exalted is He) has made clear that He owns the dominion of the heavens and the earth and that He does what He wills. So He said, Blessed and Exalted is He: [Ash-Shuraa 42:49-50] These are four categories. The first is that Allah the Exalted grants a man males, so no females come to him. The second is that He grants him females, so no males come to him. The third is that He pairs them, meaning He classifies them as males and females, so a person has both males and females. The fourth is that He makes whom He wills infertile, so no males or females come to him. Thus, Allah (Blessed and Exalted is He) has divided creation. If Allah has decreed that a person be infertile, it is not possible for him to have offspring. If Allah has decreed that his offspring be delayed, or that his begetting be delayed, then he may perhaps have children through supplication or through medicines and drugs.
The questioner : May Allah reward you, O honorable Shaykh, and may Allah bless you and your knowledge, and benefit the Muslims through you.
O my brothers.
The Shaykh : As for what Allah (Mighty and Majestic) has decreed, there is no changer for it, as Allah the Exalted said:
And Allah decides; there is no adjuster of His decision
وَاللَّهُ يَحكُمُ لا مُعَقِّبَ لِحُكمِهِ(49) To Allah belongs the dominion of the heavens and the earth; He creates what he wills. He gives to whom He wills female [children], and He gives to whom He wills males. (50) Or He makes them [both] males and females, and He renders whom He wills barren.
The questioner : May Allah reward you, O honorable Shaykh, and may Allah bless you and your knowledge, and benefit the Muslims through you.
