What is the ruling on hunting birds for amusement?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner : Should it not be said that trade, for example, is a cause? The intention behind it is play, killing for the sake of play which has no benefit behind it. This is what is prohibited, is it not, O Shaykh?

The Shaykh : Yes, but is this play?

The questioner : No, I say that it is not play.

The Shaykh : Ah

The questioner : I say that this is trade.

The Shaykh : Yes, exactly.

The questioner : I mean, they make them to trade in them, so it is not killing for play, thrown about like that.

The Shaykh : In any case, we do not see anything in such an action that prohibits it, except by way of deduction, and the deduction is what I hinted at earlier. And this hint does not necessitate the extinction of the lineage of these animals, because of the small number of them that are affected by this taxidermy. And to conclude, we say: May Allah make you knowledgeable.

The questioner : Yes.

The Shaykh : And there is no doubt that what prompted you to ask this question is that you saw these taxidermied animals before you.

The questioner : Yes.

The Shaykh : So I would have liked it to be either an independent question or attached to that question, but the owner of the house should be present.

The questioner : Abu Ahmad, O Abu Ahmad, come here.

The questioner : Peace be upon you.

The Shaykh : And upon you be peace

The questioner: Yes, Shaykh
